Sisters of the Night Bird can be played as a stand-alone adventure or as an introduction to a campaign set in West Africa, particularly in the region known as Yorubaland, the plateau region inhabited by the Yoruba people, bounded to the north and east by the Niger River, today part of Nigeria, Togo and Benin.

This is an adventure of investigation, conspiracy and mystery in the Court of Onigbogi, king of Oyo, in 1530. The events of this adventure take place about five years before the Nupe invasion (1535), which will dominate Oyo for approximately 80 years, forcing Onigbogi and his Court to take refuge in the nearby Kingdom of Borgu.

It begins in the royal capital, where the king lies ill and the kingdom cursed. There's a mystery to unravel in the palace, involving spies, assassins, poliical alliances and sorcery. Then, the PCs must set out into the menacing forests to uncover the source of the magical curse and lay it to rest. On the way they will meet malicious spirits, a tragic ghost, a cabal of witches and the Night Bird itself.

In this exciting, beautifully illustrated adventure, we are introduced to new characters, places and situations that further enrich the already exuberant folkloric universe of The Elephant & Macaw Banner.

Number of Participants: One mediator plus two to six players. A group of four players is ideal.

Time: four to five sessions of play, assuming each is about three hours long, also depending on the
